Carpet Cleaning Questions
Subjects: Cleaning Method, Dry Time, Cleaning Products, Cost, Cleaning Procedures, Cleaning Time, Stains, Pet Odor/Stains, Guaruntees
We have carpet cleaning services broken down into three categories: Residential for owner-occupied homes, Rental Properties for tenant-occupied or vacant rentals, and Commercial for businesses. Commonly asked questions about carpet cleaning are answered below:
What method of cleaning do you use?
We use water-rinse extraction, formerly termed “hot-water extraction,” the restorative cleaning method most often desired by carpet manufacturers. This involves a truck-mounted system with hoses coming into the establishment. Many usually mistakenly call this “steam-cleaning” or “shampooing.”
How long will it take to dry?
Many factors contribute to dry time. Some aspects are beyond our control, but others can be managed. The most recent written standard states that the carpet must be dry within 12 hours. We use techniques to reduce dry time as best as possible.
Are your cleaning products safe?
Yes. California has the most stringent regulations in the nation for the products we can use. That being said, all the products we use are considered safe. Additionally, we have alternatives for those with severe chemical sensitivities.
How much does it cost?
Carpet cleaning is charged by the square foot. We generally have a minimum setup fee of $300 for most jobs within 20 miles, with reduced starting rates for apartments or nearby locations. We will need to inspect and measure the carpet to provide an accurate estimate; however, $85 per room and $115 for a staircase from one floor to another tend to be rough averages for residential applications.
What steps do you take for cleaning?
Ardent Carpet Restore follows written standards established by the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and IICRC (International Institute of Cleaning and Restoration Certification). Once we've completed our assessment of the carpet, the cleaning steps we use are as follows:
- Dry soil removal by dry-vacuuming
- Pre-treatment and conditioning
- Agitation
- Water-rinse extraction, with added dry strokes when possible
- Grooming when applicable
- Accelerated drying with air movers when possible
How long will it take to clean?
Each job is unique. We usually set aside 3 hours or more for residential appointments, but most of our projects take a half or whole day. Apartments typically take 1-2 hours, depending on size, soiling, and other factors.
Will the stains be cleaned out?
Cleaning effectively removes soluble soils; however, color stains and bleach discolorations rarely disappear by cleaning alone. They usually require a color correction, or the affected carpet may need to be sectioned out.
Will cleaning remove pet stains and odor?
Cleaning may remove some contamination, but it can often worsen odors. Specialized treatments and procedures are needed to neutralize and remove pet urine, and different methods are used to address the pet dander smell. Pet issues can add anywhere from 40% to 100% to the cleaning costs. It is recommended that an on-site consultation be scheduled to assess the pet damage before scheduling cleaning services.
Do you offer a money-back guarantee?
No, we do not. We offer clear communication of realistic expectations and will come back to address anything that doesn’t seem to be entirely up to snuff. It doesn’t happen often, but a second trip is sometimes needed to produce the best result. We must be contacted within seven days of the original appointment to address any issues.
Absolutely no guarantees or warranties are offered for rental properties. You cannot be promised that you’ll retain your deposit after a move-out and carpet cleaning.
